Fodder for Gaushalas, Every Month of the Year
A gaushala feeds every animal every day, whether or not fodder is cheap, whether or not donations come in. Richnest supplies corn silage bales to gaushalas on a fixed monthly schedule, so the committee knows what fodder will cost, the staff stop chasing green fodder in summer, and the cows eat the same nutritious feed all year.

Why silage suits a gaushala
- Many animals, fixed budget: silage turns fodder into a planned monthly expense instead of a summer crisis.
- Labour: no daily cutting, carrying and chopping of green fodder.
- Old, weak and rescued animals eat soft, moist, sweet-smelling silage readily.
- Storage: sealed bales keep for 12+ months in shade, so you can stock before the lean months.
How much fodder a gaushala needs
A gaushala adult or bull needs 12–18 kg of silage a day with around 5 kg of dry fodder and 0.5–1 kg of concentrate. Many gaushalas run a full silage-based ration for around ₹50 per animal per day.
For 100 adult animals at 15 kg each, that is 1.5 tonnes a day, or about 45 tonnes a month. Tell us your numbers and we plan the deliveries so an opened bale is always finished within 3–5 days.
| Animal | Silage / day | Dry fodder | Concentrate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milking cow / buffalo (400–450 kg) | 18–25 kg | 4–6 kg | 1 kg per 2.5 L milk |
| Dry / pregnant animal | 10–15 kg | 5–6 kg | 1–1.5 kg |
| Heifer (6–18 months) | 6–10 kg | 2–3 kg | 1 kg |
| Bull / gaushala adult | 12–18 kg | 5 kg | 0.5–1 kg |
| Goat / sheep | 1–3 kg | 0.5 kg | 200–300 g |
